I think we went all wrong regarding IT-security. I can not count how often I read about the “lack of security measures caused it” or “didn't update in time” and “that bug was fixed ages ago”. That kind of victim blaming is just not ok. As I wrote before, accountability and decency in society is whats lacking. A gate like this, with no fence:
should be and most often is enough to keep people from trespassing and I can't see a reason why it should be any different in IT security.

Accountability
Accountability is underrated and does not get the attention it deserves. Should be used, enforced & shown much more widely. Often it is even seen as something to avoid, whilst in the long run it is actually in your own interest.
